New South Wales Regional Boundaries tend to differ according to source.  The NSWGenWeb Project has opted for a modified version of the Department of Local Government's 2004 Boundary guidelines.  For your convenience the State has been divided into 12 research areas (or counties):

>	Central West	>	Hunter Valley	>	Murrumbidgee	>	Richmond-Tweed
>	Far West	>	Mid-North Coast	>	Northern	>	South Coast
>	Greater Sydney	>	Murray	>	North West	>	South East

Of the 12 county regions represented each contains various cities, towns and associated municipalities.  Current NSW council shires are alphabetically listed below.
